I took this photo while being eaten alive going on an impromptu storm chase. I got this photo with my iPhone. I have never seen a lightning bolt take that much of a detour to the ground. There were multiple bolts happening simultaneously. The bolts were coming down on the other side of Melvern Lake in Osage County, Kansas.
I am a photographer (though in past years, have had critics say I am a picture taker since I'm almost all of my work with an iPhone until I can justify buying an LDSR camera when I am in a place to start stormchasing more often. After the covidpocalypse dies down, my goal is to end my hiatus for live art shows and start shows back up in Eugene, Oregon. Lately, I've been playing around with making a photograph not look like a photograph or edit in a way to show what my mind sees when taking a picture. My photography subject matter is primarily scenery/subject matter. I try to incorporate styles of other art forms into my photography and more recently adding graphic design elements.
