This was taken a few years ago with my iPhone SE but had an edit redux with the iPhone 11. What I wanted to capture is a dilemma with many artists, that fine line between beauty and danger. What I find most inspiring and beautiful is also dangerous and painful. That ranges from love/attraction to severe weather and tornadoes. The locust tree is one of my favourite trees as it has specific mechanisms to keep pretty much anything but grasshoppers (locusts) off of it. Without its leaves, it is a branch of thorns. Against a sunset sky, it is beautiful with the juxtaposition between hard and soft.
I am a photographer (though in past years, have had critics say I am a picture taker since I'm almost all of my work with an iPhone until I can justify buying an LDSR camera when I am in a place to start stormchasing more often. After the covidpocalypse dies down, my goal is to end my hiatus for live art shows and start shows back up in Eugene, Oregon. Lately, I've been playing around with making a photograph not look like a photograph or edit in a way to show what my mind sees when taking a picture. My photography subject matter is primarily scenery/subject matter. I try to incorporate styles of other art forms into my photography and more recently adding graphic design elements.
